Thanks. And yeah, I've looked through a few free font websites, but all of the fonts I've found are mainly decorative and don't look good/readable at tiny comic text sizes. Oh well...

Not at all a bad lettering job you did. I have a suggestion for a font that might work well, actually. In Norway, the original U.S. comic book was not published in its entirety, so in 2006, I set about scanning every last page of issues 69-80, removed the original lettering, and translated them. For my own lettering, I used primarily Comic Sans MS, which feels enough like it was done by hand to offset any knowledge that it was done by computer. In some cases, for various outbursts and for issue titling, I would of course use a different font or manipulate one to look like it more or less belonged in the bubble, but Comic Sans MS is my lettering font of choice, and it's free, too.

Think that might work for you?

Eheh. Let's just say that... Comic Sans is not a very popular font. Any time it's been used in the Mosaics folks tend to react with horror and comment that the letterer really needs to find a new font. (I don't mind it myself, but it's sort of persona non grata in artsy circles.)

I eventually found some other fonts while working on the lettering job for the other Outro artwork. But while they'd be useful for that and any other dabblings, I decided that this one actually might not be all that bad as it is for the mood I wanted.

Actually, I wasn't aware it was so frowned-upon. Personally, I don't particularly care what is or isn't popular as long as it serves its purpose and actually looks good within the setting for which it has been chosen.

But if I come acroos another free font that might work for you, I'll be sure to mention it -- if, by that time, you're still interested.

I didn't either, I admit, until I chanced into hanging around folks who do comic stuff. I agree with you in principle, but if the audience doesn't like it, what can you do? *shrugs*

But I would welcome any recommendations, yes. Though for the time being I came across a font called "Komika Text Caps" that isn't too bad.
