YES, FINALLY!!!I'm going to be doing clerical work for... er, well, Smith & Wesson.
(Yes, Smith & Wesson actually has their headquarters here in Springfield. And it's across from the main mail processing facility. Make of all of that what you will.) There's something faintly ironic about someone who doesn't like guns working for S&W, but I really need a job...In other news... augh, can't wait to get my hands on Spotlight: Hardhead. My inner Nightbeat fangirl can't stand the suspense... (well, more like, can't stand the suspense of finding out exactly how Furman's going to kick me where it hurts...)
Edit: Found out the job's not nearly as long-term as I thought... probably only a couple weeks. Dammit. Well, it's better than nothing, considering it's a decent pay rate.
I get to spend all day pasting status labels next to pistol serial numbers. Whee.

yo make some good points about retail too. while in college, i worked at a record store & a kmart. i've also worked at a video store as well as a borders. man, i am sure smith & wesson beats retail. and heck, i am no proponent of guns, but found myself selling shotguns and hunting licenses to locals while in ithaca. i worked in the sporting goods / toys department !

And, I spent the first 6 years or so of my working career in retail because I couldn't get anything better, and man, I hated it. I mean, I like helping people, but I really hate how mean and snotty customers tend to be. I don't really care if people thank me or not, but getting rude treatment is another thing altogether. Plus the pay is terrible and the benefits non-existent.
Unfortunately, it's proving nigh impossible to get anything steady and better with a GED and no college degree.
